Our Scrapbook Buskerfest
Denver CO The first Zome Planet contest. Our little model of Zome Planet is an 8 foot diameter enlargement of the Zomeball itself, with triangular, rectangular and pentagonal faces, each gridded to reflect its shape, so contestants can build cities with 2-fold, 3-fold, or 5-fold symmetries. Every building on the planet can be connected to every other building. Some contestants worked up to four hours, through Colorado summer sunshine and afternoon thunderstorms, to complete their cities. The Best of Show winner was "Circus City," by two elementary school students.

Six Flags Elitch Gardens
Denver CO Over 200 kids took part in this contest during the busiest weekend of the year (Labor Day) at the #1 amusement park in Colorado. Despite unlimited access to amusement park rides, the contest was booked solid all weekend and several kids tried to enter the contest multiple times so they could keep building. Some of the winning models included the Space Shuttle, a ferris wheel, and a roller coaster.

Simplexity - Jean Baudoin
Paris, France Jean Baudoin was a French artist and brilliant Zome designer who worked on a traveling exhibition modeled on Zome. The exhibition was sponsored by the French Ministry of Culture and Fuji Film, and in conjunction with the group "Simplexity." Jean Baudoin developed the green lines for Zome. He passed away in August 2001 and his genius will be sorely missed.
